Ruis

Here is Ruis with one of B'Elanna's kittens.  Ruis just loves kittens and they love him.  Ruis lives in the Netherlands with in a house of ten cats, two dogs and three humans.  There are so many cats because the humans run a cattery, called Voyager, for Cornish Rexes.  Ruis is a lilac, straight-haired Cornish Rex and the kitten is a Si-Rex, so named for the Siamese-like markings.  With so many cats and two dogs, the humans made the back garden pet safe by installing an electric fence on top of the regular wooden fence to keep everyone inside.  The first attempt was not entirely successful.  Last April, Ruis managed to jump clear over the electric fence and escape.  He went missing for a couple of days, but his humans found him in a shelter, safe and sound.  There is now a more effective electric fence on top of the wooden fence that none of the cats can get over.  Don't be alarmed at the term "electric fence".  It only delivers a very mild shock, but it is effective in getting the cats to leave it well alone.  Ruis is a very talented cat and directed the CCSI production The Santa Caper.  Ruis is a gay mancat and became interested in Karl when Karl commented on his blog.  The two of them went on the Road Trip for Love and had their first date in the back of the bus.  Love blossomed from there and now they are engaged.  I find it all very exciting and am so happy for both of them.

Ruis decided to leap over the wall.
This was not a wise decision at all.
                                         Several streets he crossed,
                                         And then he got lost.
He ended up in a shelter and was found with a call.

That's a very good idea with the electric fence, just like our farmers do to keep the cows inside, lol !
I noticed that mancats are far more kind, friendly and affectionated with kittens then females. Once the kitten is big enough the females don't want them anymore even when it is not the own kitten. My friends made the same experiences. I published today what Rosie does with poor Arthur, and he is sooo patient !

Wish we had a fence like that! Then we could go ouside and Rex the huge woofie next door couldn't get in.

Hi Karen Jo! Floriade has been running for several years here in Canberra. It goes for a month - loads of bulbs and annuals, in the big town park on the lake. I never missed going when the boys were younger but have been on trips the last three years.

Hi KJ - I have not heard from Simone or Mum and I worry. We had another bunny leave the blogsphere who I had some email connection with and so when I posted to the blog asking how all was she emailed back and said her bunny was just binky'ing and had a heart attack. UGH - and she was so torn up over it she couldn't blog because she couldn't handle what folks would say. I could totally understand that. I just hope that's not the case with Simone. I don't have an email for him or his Mum.

Hi Karen Jo, we hadn't realised that Ruis had an 'away from home' adventure. Great idea about the electric fence though - our cow cousins up north have them, but we never thought of one for the backyard. Very innovative idea by his beans. That's an excellent limerick and a lovely photo of Ruis with the kitten,
