Farewell, Meep

This is an old picture of Meep, but it's my favorite. He had just gotten his lion cut and he was feeling really good. Meep got a lion cut about every six months because he had very thick, long fur and it got really tangled and matted. No amount of brushing could cope with the matting and Meep didn't groom himself, for some reason. Meep didn't like the process of getting his lion cut, but he loved the result. Meep was adopted to be company for Buzzerbee, who was FIV+. Of course, Meep was FIV+, too. The virus didn't bother him much until lately. When Buzzerbee went to the Bridge in 2007, Meep got very lonely, so his Mom adopted Twizzler. Twizzler wanted to play a lot more than Meep did, so Bear was brought into the family. About three months ago, Meep was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Just lately he also got an infection, which his weakened immune system couldn't handle. It was time for Meep to go to the Rainbow Bridge to be with Buzzerbee. I will really miss him.

Heart failure was beating Meep down.
To see him so weak made his Mom frown,
                                                     So she gave him wings.
                                                     Now his heart sings
As Meep and Buzz turn the Bridge upside down.

Meep

This is Meep with his lion cut.  He gets these periodically because he is a very floofy cat and he gets terrible mats and tangles.  He doesn't groom himself for some reason and daily brushings just can't keep up with the mats that he develops.

This is how Meep looks most of the time.  Here he is with his favorite toy, Pookie.  He also has a favorite pillow, which he kisses every night before going to sleep on it.  Meep loves to investigate paper bags.  Meep is about four years old and FIV+, which means he can only live with other FIV+ cats.  He was originally adopted as a brother and playmate for Buzzerbee, who went to the Bridge a while ago.  They loved each other very much and Meep got rather lonely without Buzz.  Now he has a new brother and playmate, Twizzler, who just moved in recently.  I'll be writing more about Twizzler tomorrow.

Meep doesn't like the process of getting his lion cut, but he really likes it once it's done.  He runs around the house and plays a whole lot more.  You can see how he's giving the scratching post a workout.

Meep loves to be trimmed like a lion.
It gets rid of the mats and tangles so tryin'.
                                         He scratches the post
                                         That he likes the most,
Then throws back his head and roars like a lion.
