Excitement
My plan was to get the house in order and all cleaned up and just the way I wanted it, then get some good cat furniture, then go cat hunting. However, I saw a flyer for a cat who needs a home NOW. His name is Herman and he's 3-4 years old. His previous family really neglected him, leaving him outside, unneutered and unvaccinated. He got FeLV and HIV and terrible mats in his long gray and white fur. At present, he's in a foster home, locked up in a room by himself with little contact even with the foster lady. He took a dislike to her when she and another volunteer tried to cut out his mats themselves. He has been professionally shaved and checks out healthy except for his virii. He is sad and lonely. When I saw the flyer, something inside me said, "This kitty needs you," so I called the foster lady and left my number. This morning she called me back and was very excited that I wanted to adopt Herman. I go to meet him in the morning. If that goes well, then all I have to do is go through the screening process. I ran around this morning, putting away all the picture frames with glass in them and cleaning off the table by the window, so he will have a good view of the bird feeders. The screening process has me a bit worried. I have heard that they can be pretty strict about who they let adopt animals. I have no idea what they are looking for, except that they don't want to give an animal to someone who would abuse or neglect it. Will my really messy house count against me? Does anybody know anything about this process?

wow..new pet huh? hehe
I adopted a previously abused cat from a cat rescue and they were much more interested in my character than my home.
Yay for Herman! We are purring that you and Herman get to be together!
That is such good news. Don't worry about the screening process, you've got it covered paws down. We could get you hundreds of references. I can't wait to hear how it goes!!!
How exciting! I bet you would give Herman an amazing home making a very happy kitty! Especially after all Hermans been through! Tygana and I are purraying you get to bring Herman home!
Yay! We're so glad you are getting a kitty!
When we adopted Kirby and then Illyana, they did not look at my house or ask about it. You will do fine! We are purring that this goes through for you!
Oh I hope that everything works out with Herman! When you wrote that he was sad and lonely I just about cried. I can't imagine you have anything to worry about with the screening process. I only had to read your blog once to know you have strength of character and a compassion for others. Good luck... and be sure to show us photos of Herman.
Glogirly
Oh, we are purraying that Herman will come to live with you, cuz we know you will give him a loving furever home.

I am pretty sure you will pass the test. You could show them all of the bloggers in the cat blogosshere, oh oh and all of your amazing limericks!
I hope Herman is the right kitty for you. I sure hope he is a good kitty too and gives you lots of love. being locked up in a room is scary and terrible!
cat proofing: just focus on the stuff that he might want to eat. Pierro tries to eat stuff in the carpet, all sorts of stuff. Mom has to watch him .
love and purrrs
oh Miss KarenJo, we are so very 'acited!!! We think that they are more interested in you than your house! We is crossing our claws and saying some purrrayers for you! We hopes that Herman gets to come live wif you!
This is way cool! I don't think a little clutter will matter...they just wanna make sure you're not collecting kitties for dinner and stuff like that.
Tell 'em Herman is gonna get his own blog. He will...right???
I am so excited for you! And I think it is very wonderful that you are giving a cat with "issues" a chance for a happy life. I cannot imagine that you wouldn't be approved.
I can't wait to see a photo of Herman. I'll bet he will be soooo happy to have a home where he will be loved and wanted. If he wasn't neutered until later in life, he will probably have that big, chunky Mancat head that is so cool.
Just be yourself and you can't miss.Your so sweet and have a heart of gold the purrfect owner for this kitty...Hugs
hope your meeting went well... if messiness counts than I would have never gotten any of the boyz... :-)
We are so excited for you and Herman! We're sure you'll pass the screening process with flying colors.
This is beyond excitement! You will make the besest of moms ever!! Keep us posted. I cannot wait until I see a photo of Herman. You won't have any problems with the adoptionprocess. I know they will be looking for one that can give love, love, and more love. That would be you.
Oh poor Herman, he's had a sad life. But I'm sure you'll be fine through the screening process. I think the state of your house is the last thing they'll be worried about. I look forward to seeing a photo of Herman when he comes to his new home...and he will!
