Farewell, Jake

This is a hard one to write because it is so sad. Jake and Spot were inside kitties living with their Mom and two Kidbeans. They started blogging in 2006, but didn't blog very much at all. Then a boyfriend who didn't like cats moved in and Jake and Spot became outdoor only cats in the summer of 2008. The last we heard from them on their blog was that the Mom had gotten a doghouse, put it in the basement and put fleece blankets in it to keep them warm for the winter. That was September 2008. It must have worked because we didn't hear anything more until just recently. Jake was killed by a car. His Mom has lost her information to get into his blog, so it hasn't been updated since September 2008. She is just devastated.

Jake and Spot had to live in the yard.
They liked it fine, 'cept the door was barred.
                                                           A car hit poor Jake;
                                                           A trip he did take
To the Rainbow Bridge where nothing is hard.

Sorry, but what kind of mom is that ? I wouldn't have let this so said boyfriend in my house and would have kicked him miles away ! Men who didn't like my cat didn't even enter my flat (40 years ago, lol) People (men or women) who don't like cats or dogs are not for me !! Mostly they don't like kids either !
And how can you loose informations of your blog ?? Poor cats ! what a life and now one was even killed by a car !

I'd have kicked the boyfriend out and kept the cats. I can't believe little Jake and Spot were left to fend outside or in the basement. That's tragic.
RIP dear Jake ~ hopefully you are in a better place now.

Poor Jake. No boyfriend is worth that and I'm praying the other cats find real homes.

That "boyfriend" gotta go.

"There once was a boyfriend so mean
With kitties he wouldn't be seen,
They got tossed right outside
And Jake went fer a "ride",
With a car what has made him a "been"."

In fact, we are still upset. And we turn "upset" into lyrics...

'A lovely cat name of Jake
Tossed out of the house by a snake
Tried to warm his own fuzz
But it mattered not cuz
A car turned him into a “was”.'

and

"Our anger is very profound
Cuz a kitty was serisly wronged.
Jake was cast out outside
That was very much bad,
And the Bein who did it’s a Cad!"

We'll stop there, assuming point taken...

I feel so bad for poor Jake. It is awful that he had to be treated like that. I am a kind and gentle mancat, but let me say this...the Mom is devastated? You've got to be kidding me. She should have thought of that before she kicked him to the curb. It is directly her doing. OK, I've vented now, but I don't really feel all that much better. Sweet Jake, my sisters and I are so very sorry & we wish we would have known you. But my sisters and I will remember you forever. Thanks for sharing his story with us. Hopefully Jake will give others reason to pause and think before they act. Love ya Jake!!!

We hope this tragic incident has allowed the Mom to realise that kitties can't take care of themselves. Grown men can. She needs to reclaim her strength and do what's right and necessary... to take care of those who depend on her.

Poor Jake.
His mommy should learn from this, it's sinful.

RIP Jake.

Poor Jake - no guy is worth putting your pets outside for! Our mom won't even hang out with beans who don't like critters! Hope Jake is happy at last!

You wrote a very wonderful limerick but...That boyfriend belonged in the doghouse!

That's such a sad story. I'm sure his mom is devastated. We're so sorry for her loss. Kitties are true family members, and a boyfriend that doesn't treat them like treasured members of the family is definitely not a keeper.

This is such a sad story! We just watched a video tonight of a 2 year old girl who was killed by her mom's husband who started abusing her when he was the boyfriend. Reading this made me think of him. Whether or not he physically abused the cats, he threw them out and they were indoor cats.

Poor Jake. He got tired of being in the basement and when he finally got out he was hit. After being indoor cats it's not good for any cat to be kicked outdoors. I to would have said adios to the boyfriend and I agree with Nolls Nip the guy belonged in the doghouse.

Poor Jake, thank you for writing the limerick for him.

We remember the Venting blog and the story of how the new boyfriend wanted the cats thrown outside. We commented back then about how their Mom should not share her life with a cat hater as no good could ever come of it. But the human heart is a strange thing. It's very sad that the cats lost out and that Jake was killed.
