Pink for Skeezix

Today I'm going pink for Skeezix, the amazing mancat who did so much for the Cat Blogosphere.  I first met Skeezix before I even started Kitty Limericks.  At first I didn't know what to make of him, but he was very amusing and I soon grew to love him.  He made a mancat wearing pink dresses very stylish.  I remember when he first started wearing nail caps because he gave Rocky the Gutter Cat an abscess on his head.  The nail caps didn't slow him down.  I remember a picture of him clinging to the stones of the fireplace with his nail caps on.  After I started this blog, Skeezix became in inspiration to me.  I wrote two limericks about him.  The first one is here.  Then I wrote one about the Great Tunnel Box War.  I well remember a video Skeezix made for Daisy the Curly Cat to the song "A Bicycle Made for Two".  Skeezix's own special spelling made the rounds of the Cat Blogosphere and soon everycat was talking about "vishus deer"  and "kyoot outfits".  Rocky the Gutter Cat even started taking orders for his own special Vishus Deer Repellent.  I am rusty on my limerick writing, but I wrote one for Skeezix.

It's time to bid dear Skeezix goodbye.
I think I'll just break down and cry.
                                                      He looked manly in pink
                                                      Much more than you'd think.
Now he's run off to the Bridge so high.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here is Angel Herman wearing the St. Patrick's Day hat.  This was his first St. Patrick's Day and you can easily tell what he thinks about it.  This is the first time I have felt like posting here since Herman ran off to the Bridge, but I thought you all might like seeing him in his green hat again.  It's the first thing that came to mind when I was considering my St. Patrick's Day post for Herman's Hideaway.  You can see the boycats wearing the same hat over there.  I am way out of practice, but here's a little ditty for the occasion.

My kitties hide when St. Pat makes the scene.
They know that I have a hat made of green.
                                                                 They'd rather not be seen
                                                                  A'wearin' the green.
They think making them wear it is just mean.

Farewell, Herman

This is the last picture I took of Herman by himself.  The very last picture was of him and Oja cuddling in the easy chair in the living room.  Herman ran off to the Rainbow Bridge early this morning.  He hadn't been sick.    He showed no signs of sickness at all until yesterday afternoon, when I found him in Emma's hidey hole about an hour after the vet closed for the weekend.  There was nothing I could have done anyway.  If you want to read the whole story, you can find in on Herman's Hideaway.  I buried him in the garden, in a sunny spot near the forsythia bush.  It is only five days until his third Gotcha Day.  I am really going to miss my darling boy.  See you at the Rainbow Bridge, dear Herman.

                                          Farewell, Herman, my darling boy.
Having you in my life was such a joy.
                                                      We'd play and cuddle
                                                      And sleep in a huddle.
See you at the Bridge, my handsome boy.

Dona Nobis Pacem

I don't have anything new, different or profound to say.  I just believe that if all of us are as kind and gentle toward everyone around us as we can be, we will become better people and much less willing to wage war on anyone.

Farewell, Beau

This is another really sad one for me.  I have known Beau for years.  I remember his first blog with the kitty with the moving tail along the top and side.  I remember his great bow ties, which he wore with such flair.  I was with him through the changes in his blog and the changes in his life.  Back when this blog was pretty new, I wrote a limerick for him, which you can find here.  I went through Cathy's illness and death with him and wrote him another limerick when he settled down with Rose and the Royals.  Now we have to say goodbye.  At the end of April, Beau started losing weight and becoming disinterested in eating.  A vet exam showed that he had some cancer indicators in his blood.  Last weekend, he started acting grrr-y with Rose and hiding.  The time had come.  The vet came to the house and helped Beau go to Cathy on May 15th.  Farewell, old friend.  I am sure that you and Cathy are together again and delighted to be with each other.

Beau was a gentleman cat through and through.
He loved us all, that much is true.
                                                            But he most loved Mom
                                                            And now he has gone
To be with her in a life ever new.

Farewell, Scooby

On Sunday, April 1, Scooby of Little Cat Feet suddenly ran off to the Rainbow Bridge.  He had been completely normal earlier in the day and had no health problems.  While his Mom was carrying her laundry basket, Scooby suddenly ran into the wall next to her.  She scooped him up in her arms and he had some kind of seizure, then he was gone.  She held him for a long time, unable to believe that he could pass away so quickly.  His litter mate, Shaggy was nearby and came to see what was the matter.  His Mom feels really bad and shocked by this.  Scooby wanted out to play in the grass in the morning, but she said no and now regrets it.  She shouldn't beat herself up over this.  Scooby is now running and playing in the best grass that there ever was.  I think that Scooby felt something inside of him go terribly wrong and he ran to his Mom, who always gave him love and protection.

I have been reading Little Cat Feet since I first discovered cat blogs and this really makes me sad.  You can find Scooby's happy limerick here.  I am really going to miss him.

                                                      Suddenly Scooby started feeling bad.
He ran to his Mom, so he wouldn't be sad.
                                                            He passed from her arms,
Where he felt safe from harm,
To the Bridge where he's running and playing like mad.
