Here's Emma with her nip banana. I chose this picture for her farewell post because this is the way I want to remember her. I want to thank all of you for your purrs for Emma. I really appreciate them. I buried her in the flower garden near the bird feeder. If you want to read Emma's story, it is just a few posts down with her happy limerick. If you want to read about her death, it is over on Herman's Hideaway. A few of you may wonder why I didn't rush Emma off to the emergency vet when I found her in the litter box, too weak to get out. The nearest emergency vet is a 45 minute drive from here. I did consider it, but the stress of moving her would have probably meant that she would have run off to the Rainbow Bridge on the way. Even if she had survived the trip, there would have been nothing that they could have done for her. She exhibited all the symptoms of Feline Leukemia that Herman did, but they were much worse. I thought it best to just let her go here at home in her room where she felt most comfortable. I will miss her terribly and I think that Herman will miss her, too. I let Herman see her and smell her and touch her before I buried her, but I don't know if he understands why she didn't respond to him. I hope so.
Goodbye, Emma, my sweet little one.
It's all too soon that you are gone.
You fly away free,
But for Herman and me
It's a sad time here all alone.

Herman knew. Animals know more than we often think they do. It is sad Emma couldn't stay longer but we only have them for a time and then we have to let them go. You did the right things for Emma and now she is at peace and without pain. Hugs and tears.
A lovely tribute to sweet Emma. We're so sad that she had to leave for the Bridge. (((Hugs))) purrs and healing prayers to you.

Emma left way too soon and she will be missed. Purrs to you and Herman.
Very, very sorry to read of Emma's passing on Herman's Hideaway. It was a shock to happen so quickly. The limerick is such a nice tribute to beautiful little cat. You certainly gave her a good life.
Karen, we just came here from Herman's blog. We are so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Emma. Your love for her and Herman is so inspiring. She was lucky to have you in her short little life.
Bless you.

Purrs, from all of us.
Jack, Persephone, and Tenzing (who also says thank you for the limerick!)
You gave her the best any kitty could have wanted!
Oh my God, we were away all day and I had no idea. I am so, so sorry.
What a lovely tribute limerick for Emma.
What a wonderful tribute to a special cat. Karen, thank you and Herman for loving Emma so much. Surely we will all see her again at the Bridge. Purrs and prayers to you.
Emma,
Too soon gone from this place.
The tears run down Momma's face.
Herman does not know where to go.
Spirit free to fly with the flow.
Hugs and purrs to you,
Laura, Taffy, and (angels) Jet & Venus
What a beautiful limerick for Emma. I know that this is a very heartbreaking thing to have happen so all my thoughts and prayers are with you now.
This is a sweet and sad tribute limerick for dear Emma. We think you made the right decision to allow Emma to stay at home, safe and loved for her passing. Herman will, as all amimals do, understand death with acceptance and simplicity. We know you will both feel lonely right now and we hope that good memories of Emma, who was a very special girl will soon come to soothe you both.
