Kelly was the Big Guy over at Good Cats and he will be sorely missed. He was getting on in years and had had Irritable Bowel Syndrome for quite a while. Lately he was having more digestive problems and when it was discovered that his kidneys were failing, his Mom and Dad knew that they would have to help him go to the Bridge. On his last day, he wanted to go outside, even though it had been raining all day. He looked around and scratched on his favorite tree, then turned to come back inside. He refused to eat anything at all, so his Mom and Dad knew that it was time. There is a wonderful video of Kelly getting a tummy rub and purring on his blog.
Kelly was a Good Cat; of that there is no doubt.
He was really slowing down, but he still wanted out.
He gave his tree one last scratch
And looked around for a mouse to catch.
Then he went to the Bridge, where he leaps about.

Mom's eyes burst when she read Kelly had to leave for the Bridge. It has been a very sad week in the CB. This was a lovely tribute, Karen Jo.

Furry nice - and we like da nice fall photo of Kelly too.
Your words are comforting at such a sad time, and help us remember the happy times he had. That's a very lovely limerick.
That's so sad when a loved kitty crosses the bridge. My parents' cat (my childhood cat) recently did, and it's just sad.
Such a beautiful limerick to honor Kelly.
We are happy with the image of him leaping and having fun on the other side of the Bridge.

Kelly was a very pretty kitty. I'm glad he got to take a last look around his yard and a last scratch on his favorite tree.

He will be missed very very badly :(
That's so sad. The mom and dad beans must have had courage to say farewell especially after Kelly gave his favorite tree one last scratch. Brings tears to my eyes. Good Limerick. Hope he has at the Bridge to know he has so many friends in his corner.
It's so sad that lovely Kelly had to leave us. That's a very nice tribute. Thankyou Karen Jo!
