Mom Passed Away

Update: If any of you would like to see my Mom's obituary, you can find it online here.

I didn't post any updates on my Mom because by the time there were any changes, things went downhill in a hurry. My Mom passed away this evening. It really was a blessed release because she was really suffering. At least near the end she went to sleep and passed peacefully. She lived a full and wonderful life and left it at home, where she wanted to be. I don't know when I'll get back to the limericks, but I will start visiting again, as I think it will comfort me. Thank you all for your kind and comforting comments on my previous post.

  24. I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom, Karen Jo. I know what you mean about being a release -- it was the same for my father. I know there are a lot of things you must take care of right now, but when all the hustle and bustle dies down, you will begin the real grieving.

Your mother was fortunate to live a good life and to have you for her daughter. I'm sure she'll be with you always in your heart and your mind.

  35. No, we decided we can't leave it at that. Karen, you don't know how much we kitties love you.

    “Karen’s Mom has passed away.
She left this world most peaceably.
And all us kitties want to say,
Our world is sadder on this day.

That Karen, writer of the passed,
Must write about her loss, alas.
It seems that we, received her comfort,
In loss of ours, should make this effort.

To tell our dear friend Karen, that,
We feel her pain, as caring cats,
And offer all we can from here.
Our THOUGHTS, our PURRS, our HEAD-BUMPS, dear.”

    LC, Ayla, and Iza

The Big Thing here: Karen, as you have comforted so many of us in our losses, we want to comfort you in yours. We cannot change your loss, but I know we all would like to give you our shared comfort in return. I know you need to stay away a while to deal with the grief, but please know that we in the cat blogosphere appreciate your caring poems and wish you well in this very difficult time.

Today, we light a candle for your Mom…

  58. I am glad your mother is no longer suffering. Take time to grieve and to laugh and to remember.

I think that no matter how prepared we think we are for the loss of a parent, it is a very difficult loss. Take all the time you need when you need. Also, I think you are right that getting back to some things (like limericks) can provide comfort during the grieving process.
